Multi-Hazard Threat Database
The Multi-Hazard Threat Database (MHTD) is a decision support tool that reduces vulnerability of the state of North Carolina to natural and man made disasters. It is a secure, comprehensive database with state infrastructure with geographical information built on the North Carolina Animal Health Geographic Information System (NCAHGIS). The MHTD allows for a more rapid response with fast access to information, facilitates improved resource allocation and planning, and allows real-time management of field data.
The MHTD has been utilized for a wide range of incidents and supports all state agencies in time of emergency. It provides a "one medicine" approach to surveillance, detection, diagnosis and response on the local, state and federal level. Information integration is the key to success. We work closely with our partners in NC Public Health, Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation, State Bureau of Investigation, State Highway Patrol, Emergency Management, and private industry.
