Ag Commissioner Troxler to watch Friday as Christmas tree

| WHO/WHAT: | Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler will be on hand when a 20-foot-tall Fraser fir from Mistletoe Meadows farm in Laurel Springs is cut and loaded for its trip to Washington, D.C., where it will be displayed in the Blue Room of the White House. Troxler also will speak at a send-off ceremony at 2 p.m. at the Ashe County Courthouse in Jefferson. |

| OTHER INFO: | Mistletoe Meadows is owned by Joe Freeman and Linda Jones. They earned this honor by winning Grand Champion at the National Christmas Tree contest in Portland, Ore., in 2006. They are scheduled to present the tree to First Lady Laura Bush at the White House on Monday, Nov. 26. This is the 10th time a North Carolina Fraser fir has been selected for the White House’s Blue Room, more than any other state. |
