Agricultural Statistics - Weather & Crops Report:
For the month of December 2007

 


GENERAL: North Carolina received rain throughout the month of December, yet much of the state is still under severe drought.  Temperatures were well above normal for the month with average temperatures ranging from 37 to 53 degrees.  Total precipitation for the month was between 2.17 and 5.89 inches.  There were 4 days suitable for field work the last week of the month, compared to 6.0 days from the week ending December 16.  Statewide soil moisture levels are rated at 12% very short, 14% short, 70% adequate, and 4% surplus. Activities during the week included tending to livestock and general farm maintenance.
