Agricultural Statistics - Weather & Crops Report:
For the week ending March 10, 2008

 


GENERAL: North Carolina received widespread rain throughout the week with totals ranging from 0.96 to 3.63 inches.  The recent rains have been a great relief and have improved some area’s surface water supplies.  Temperatures were above normal for the week with average temperatures ranging from 41 to 59 degrees. There were 3.6 days suitable for field work, compared to 4.5 days the previous week.  Statewide soil moisture levels are rated at 1% very short, 9% short, 65% adequate and 25% surplus. Activities during the week included tending to livestock, spring planting preparations and general farm maintenance.
