Agricultural Statistics - Weather & Crops Report:
For the week ending March 23, 2008

 

GENERAL: North Carolina received scattered showers this week with the largest rainfall amount being reported in the Mountain Region at 1.18 inches. Most stations reported temperatures below normal for the week with average temperatures ranging from 41 to 57 degrees. There were 4.8 days suitable for field work, the same as the previous week. Statewide soil moisture levels are rated at 1% very short, 10% short, 81% adequate and 8% surplus. Activities during the week included an increased planting of Irish potatoes and cabbage, spreading of fertilizer, and other spring planting preparations.
