Agricultural Statistics - Weather & Crops Report:
For the week ending June 29, 2008

 


GENERAL: North Carolina received between 0 and 2.81 inches of rain throughout the week.  Wilmington reported the most rain with 2.81 inches. Average temperatures ranged from 64 to 83 degrees.  Rainfall was scattered and variable throughout the state, which provided very little relief to the drought conditions in North Carolina.  There were 6.2 days suitable for field work, compared to 6.4 from the previous week.  Statewide soil moisture levels are rated at 33% very short, 42% short, 25% adequate and 0% surplus.  Activities during the week included the planting of sorghum, soybeans, sweetpotatoes, and harvesting hay, Irish potatoes, peaches, rye, oats, and wheat.
